25 Books in 2022

I’m not sure where the last few months went, but the end of 2022 is finally in sight. Are you excited for the new year, like me, or was 2022 a good one for you? Whatever the case, 2023 is nearly here and it’s a great chance to turn over a new page (cheesy, I know).

One of my 2022 goals was to read every day, even if it was just a chapter of a book. When I finished a book (and remembered) I added it to my Pinterest board which can be found here. I finished 25 books this year, and while it’s hardly an impressive figure I wanted to focus on the habit of reading rather than the quantity of books I could get through. As much as I love reading, for years I’ve either gone mad on books and devoured them or not bothered at all, usually because I told myself I didn’t have time to get sucked into reading. Let’s face it, reading is a great way to procrastinate. So, this year I built reading time into every day, giving me designated chill time and some great worlds to visit.

Most of the books I read were fiction, but I sprinkled a few non-fiction titles in there too. Here’s the complete list, if you’re interested, ranked in order of preference.

Fiction

  1. Six of Crows – Leigh Bardugo
  2. Crooked Kingdom – Leigh Bardugo
  3. A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes – Suzanne Collins
  4. The Twist of a Knife – Anthony Horowitz
  5. The Great Gatsby – F. Scott Fitzgerald
  6. Rule of Wolves – Leigh Bardugo
  7. King of Scars – Leigh Bardugo
  8. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe – C S Lewis
  9. A Line to Kill – Anthony Horowitz
  10. Shadow and Bone – Leigh Bardugo
  11. Ruin and Rising – Leigh Bardugo
  12. Siege and Storm – Leigh Bardugo
  13. The Magicians Nephew – C S Lewis
  14. Prince Caspian – C S Lewis
  15. A Christmas Carol – Charles Dickens
  16. Made in Manhattan – Lauren Layne
  17. Alex Rider: Secret Weapon
  18. The Last Battle – C S Lewis
  19. The Voyage of the Dwan Treader – C S Lewis
  20. The Horse and his Boy – C S Lewis
  21. The Silver Chair – C S Lewis
  22. Midnight Sun – Stephanie Meyer

Non-Fiction

  1. How to Win Friends and Influence People – Dale Carnegie
  2. Tools of Titans – Tim Ferriss
  3. The 5am Club – Robin Sharma

As you can see, Leigh Bardugo was popular with me and yes – I’ve watched and loved the show on Netflix. A lot of the fiction books I read were a similar style, being young adult, fantasy or both. Next year, I’ll try and branch out more, but I’m quite pleased with what I read this year!
